You can see the metal you own.

Private safekeeping is built around identifiable physical holdings—not an abstract balance on a screen. Clients may arrange to view their stored metal inside the vault by appointment.

01Physical bars

02Documented ownership

Allocation and custody records tied to the client.

03Transparent reporting

Clear information throughout the life of the holding.

Gold can play a different role in a long-term portfolio.

Across generations, many wealthy families have held physical gold as a way to preserve wealth over time. It is not a promise of a fixed annual return, nor a substitute for equities or other assets.

It can sit alongside them as a tangible diversifier. The decision then becomes not only what to own, but how that metal is identified, protected and made accessible when needed.

Understand allocated ownership

A bank locker stores the item. A custody service looks after the holding.

With a bank locker

You arrange the metal, its authentication, any separate insurance and what happens when you want to sell. The locker provides physical space, but not an integrated ownership record or exit process.

With private safekeeping

Acquisition, allocation, specialist vaulting, insurance arrangements, reporting and an exit route are coordinated within one documented relationship. The policy and client agreement define the specific protections.

Questions worth asking before you place metal in custody.

Clear answers to the practical questions about ownership, protection, access and exit. The exact terms of any arrangement are set out in your client documents.

Ask FinMet a question

Ownership & records

Is the metal legally mine?

The proposed holding is allocated and segregated in the client's name, rather than pooled with other clients' metal or held on FinMet's balance sheet. Your ownership and custody documents identify the arrangement.

How can I verify my specific bars?

Holdings are identified through bar and custody records, including serial numbers where applicable. A personal vault visit can be arranged by appointment so you can see the metal, with periodic statements and independent audit reporting supporting the record.

Do I have a live app showing my holdings?

There is no live holdings portal at present. Reporting is provided through statements and audit information sent to the client.

What happens to the metal if FinMet ceases operations?

Client title to allocated metal is intended to remain separate from FinMet's own assets. The custody and ownership documents set out how that separation is evidenced and how a holding can be recovered or transferred.

Storage & protection

Where is the metal stored?

The India service currently uses specialist vaulting in Mumbai. Storage location is not a client-selectable option within this offering.

Who stores and moves the metal?

Specialist third-party logistics and vaulting partners handle physical movement and safekeeping. FinMet coordinates the client relationship and documented process; it does not ask you to rely on an office safe or ordinary locker.

What does the insurance cover?

The custody structure includes third-party insurance. The policy wording defines covered events, exclusions and the claims process; ask for the current policy and review it before proceeding. We do not promise a claim outcome or settlement date outside those terms.

Can I visit the vault?

Yes, a visit can be arranged by appointment for the title holder, with an accompanied viewing of the holding. The team will confirm the visit conditions and scheduling when you enquire.

Access & exit

What does safekeeping cost?

An annual custody fee applies to the value of the holding. The team will provide the current fee schedule and any transaction or logistics charges in writing before you commit.

Is there a lock-in period?

The service is presented without a fixed holding period. You may request an exit, with the practical steps and timing confirmed under the client agreement.

Can I take physical delivery instead of selling?

Physical delivery is an available exit route, subject to the custody documents and the logistics required for your holding.

Can I move my metal to another custodian?

You can request a transfer out. The receiving custodian's requirements and the documented release process determine how that transfer is completed.

Can existing jewellery or bars enter custody?

Existing metal needs an authentication and refining route before acceptance. The guide describes testing and melting with a refining partner to establish purity and weight, so discuss the irreversible steps and your options before authorising them.

How it compares

How is this different from a bank locker?

A locker provides space for items you place inside. This service combines documented allocation with specialist vaulting, insurance arrangements, verification and an organised route to sell or take delivery. Review the precise terms of both options before choosing.

Do I need to replace my gold ETF or other investments?

No. Physical, allocated metal serves a different purpose from a fund unit or a bond. The service is intended as one possible part of a wider portfolio, not a claim that gold outperforms equities or that another holding should be sold.

Who can enquire about this service?

The India offering is designed for Indian-resident individuals, business families and family offices, including eligible entity structures. The team will confirm suitability, onboarding requirements and commercial terms privately.
